The town is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains near the Appalachian Trail. The quick drive through Huntersville is the perfect trip is perfect for a sunny afternoon. Nearby, Lake Norman is the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina that is a mecca for water sports, fishing, and other recreational activities. Unwind on the beach, stroll the boardwalk and top it all off with local seafood and some mouth-watering Carolina BBQ. The beautiful places you can visit en route are the scenic Shunkawauken Falls, the impressive Biltmore Estate in Asheville and pretty Lake Junaluska. This scenic drive is jam-packed with places to visit such as Asheville, Bryson City, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge and Knoxville en route.

While I no longer live there, I was always finding new hidden gems when I did call the city home. In all, eight law enforcement officials were shot, including two correction officers who were killed and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who was critically wounded and later died. Three other Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers were also shot. Can’t rule out a few storms before midnight mainly in north-central KS but for most areas the storms will hold off until after midnight. Which means some of the storm cells may produce winds of 50+ mph with hail the size of quarters in diameter or larger. As we will see the potential for rain Tuesday through Thursday, there is another round of flooding concerns. Within the three day span many areas have the potential to pick up 1″ to 2″ of rainfall.

A good portion of Thursday will remain quite wet at times, with rainfall amounts ranging from 0.75″ to up to 1.25″ within some of the thunderstorms. Very windy conditions return for the end of the week and will continue throughout the weekend, with another round of showers and storms arriving late Friday night and continuing into the day Saturday. The beginning of the Wisconsin Fishing Opener looks to be a bit wet and windy, with more showers on the way for Saturday morning and afternoon.
